It was declared by Supreme court to demolish buildings that are constructed against CRZ Norms by Ministry of Environment and forests(MoEF).The rules mandated under the Environment Protection Act,1986,were first framed in 1992 subsequently revised in 2011 and now again issued in 2019 in supersession of the earlier ones. According to Mr. Sarwate, Buildings in Kochi are prone to cracks due to the weak soil strata and various other reasons. Hence, he suggests not to relate the cracks formed on the building with the demolition activities and also pleaded not to worry about the safety of neighbouring buildings as no hazards are expected to occur in the Site . Also since the number of floors is more, the gravity will be more, which makes the demolition better. He confidently proclaimed that the project will be carried out with utmost safety
Chairman of Institution of Engineers India, T.P Raveendran, Secretary M.P Eldhose, Joint Secretary P.A Salahuddin also chaired the session.
